Silly Emily

19 Weeks
Alright, there it is - my belly. It doesn't look like much, but really, I don't fit in most of my clothes. At this point, I'm in between maternity clothes and my regular clothes. It stinks. It makes me crabby.Rob felt the baby move today! So special!
Emily is talking up a storm! It's like the vocabulary button got turned on and it won't turn off! She's telling me right now to "Turn this off!" I think she wants me to get off the computer now. But before I do, I just have one funny story. She woke up a couple mornings ago telling me, "Kicka schockabaw!" I said, "You want to kick a soccerball?" "Yeah!" I guess she was dreaming about soccer! And then yesterday she was asking for "canny cone". I asked, "Candy corn?" "Yeah!" Then she marched around the coffee table chanting, "Canny cone! Canny cone!" The only place she has learned about candy corn is in a book that I haven't read to her in a while. So who knows where she gets this stuff! It must be in her blood! So of course, I had Rob make a stop at the store for some canny cone on his way home from work. Yummy!

Emily's Owie
And look at this face! So pitiful!
The bandage is off now. I took it off during her nap to air out. I was surprised she didn't want it back on after she woke up. She actually is refusing a bandaid now. I'll slip one on her when she goes to sleep!Monday, June 16, 2008
Sentences, Questions and an Update
Emily has really begun to talk. Most of what she says I understand. Most of what she says only I understand. Here are some examples of things she's saying now:
- "I cate oopoo!" = I can't open.
- "I cate reach!" = I can't reach.
- "Yick a pink ha-pop!" = I want to lick a pink lollipop.
- "Pink schoop!" = pink bathing suit.
- "Bobby bee!!!" = bumble bee
Oh, and she really needs to work on her 'r' sounds in words. Eek, when she says "shirt" it doesn't really sound like shirt. It sounds like, well, you know. And the other day she was wearing a shirt that had a monkey on it. And of course, I kept asking her all day long what kind of shirt she was wearing. "Monkey sh--!" All she needs now is a bull shirt and a horse shirt and we're set. TOTALLY KIDDING!!! But I might get her a dog shirt.
And while we're in the car, she sees lots of things that she doesn't know what they are. Or at least she'll claim to not know what they are. Here is a scenario of me and Em in the car:
- Em: "What's that?!?"
- me: "What do you see?"
- Em: "I know!" Which really means I don't know, but she leaves out the 'don't'.
- me: "Is it a flag?"
- Em: "Nooooo..."
- me: "Is it a balloon?"
- Em: "Nooooo..."
- me: "Is it an airplane?"
- Em: "Nooooo..."
- me: "Is it a train?"
- Em: "Nooooo..."
- me: "Well, what is it?"
- Em: "I know!"
- me: "Is it a car?"
- Em: "Yep. A blue car!"
- me: *sigh* "Why didn't you say so in the first place?"
- Em: "I know."
She's introducing herself to other kids at fast food play areas. She'll point to her shirt and say, "Emmm-ME!" She usually just gets funny looks from the other kids. The other kids love her and hug her and play with her. I need to get her into some sort of preschool or something so she can interact more with kids her age.
And then an update on the pregnancy! I have been feeling better lately, except I'm super tired and I keep getting migraines. But, at least I don't feel like throwing up all the time. I have gained...drumroll please...a pound. One pound. I feel like I've gained twenty. Literally. My clothes don't quite fit anymore. I have a pair of capri pants that have a tie to help keep them up. Well, I don't have to tie them anymore. Poo.
Oh, and I've been feeling movement! It's so great! At first it was just when I'd wear jeans and sit at the computer, but now it's whenever. So sweet! Bump, I just felt him/her move!
By the way, only 22 days left to vote on what I'm having! It looks like boy votes are in the lead. We find out for sure on July 8th!
I added some photos to the "Big Steps" blog of Emily swimming in our new wading pool. If you'd like to see them and don't have access, send me an email and I'll add you to the list.

Trip to Houston
We bonded over Guitar Hero.
Emily and Heather's daughter Cora had a great time together. Cora is the same age as Emily.
On our way to Houston, we crammed in the van and watched Little Mermaid (twice).Friday, June 06, 2008

Bubbles, Bubbles, Everywhere!!!
Gramma has a cool bubble machine that blows bubbles for as long as it has juice (and batteries). Let me tell you, it saves your pucker from blowing all those bubbles!Friday, May 30, 2008
2008 Hayes Family Reunion!

Corgan, sporting a really big scab on his forehead, loved eating the ice from the ice chests.
Carter is always ready with a smile!
Emily was having hair issues.
I'm not sure why Caiden gave me this look. I think I was in trouble for something.
It was Jason's 30th birthday and that first night we honored him with a roast. SO FUN!!! Right, Jason?Tuesday, May 27, 2008
Apology
I realize how petty I sounded this weekend when I was venting my frustrations about Emily and her tantrums. I just want everyone to know that I don't hate her, just her attitude. You would never know from this sweet photo that she is very opinionated, strong willed, and really good at being two. So, I just wanted to apologize for complaining and pouting and getting frustrated this weekend. Blame in on hormones...yeah.Saturday, May 10, 2008

Camp Nana & Grumpa
Grandma Brown brought over a pretty rose from their front yard. It smells SO GOOD!!! I have been sticking my nose in it to get a deep wiff and now my allergies are acting up.
Nana bought some bubbles for Emily and Emily thought they were delicious! As Nana would blow the bubbles, Emily would try to catch them in her mouth. She didn't think they tasted bad at all!

Some Stuff...
1. Chalk is pronounced "chick".
2. Shirt is pronounced...well...without the 'r'.
3. She asks for cake all day long. We don't have cake. We never have cake. Unless it's her birthday. It's not her birthday.
4. When she gets an owie, she MUST have a bandaid to make it all better. The other day she got something in her eye and she insisted on a bandaid. She was upset for a bit when she didn't get one. And then yesterday she had a bit of chalk on her big toe and she asked for a bandaid.
5. She likes to fake fall. She'll be walking along and then all of a sudden she is flat-out on the floor. She appreciates it when you ask her if she's okay. Her response usually is "I nuh." Which I'm guessing means "I'm okay".
6. Rake is pronounced "rick". There is a book that has a rake in it and she'll go to that page and say, "Rick," and then scratch the page with her hand in a raking motion. Makes me think of catching The Raker...
7. Emily: "Mess! Mess!" Me: "Did you make a mess?" Emily: "No." But she'll lead me right to her mess and point and say, "Mess!" Sometimes she'll help me clean up her mess.
8. Lollipop is pronounced "Hah pop." She loves her some hah pops.
9. Thank you is pronounced "Git tee." I don't know why. I try to get her to say it right. But at least she says it, in her own way.
10. She loves to brush her teeth! Yay!
11. We're still working on her saying all the letters of the alphabet. She still says "Iggy" at letters she doesn't want to say. She doesn't want to say F, G, V, and W. The others she will say.
12. She doesn't want to say her numbers either. She now counts like this: "Two, five, two, five, two, five." At least she's added another number in there. It used to be "Two, two, two..."
13. Five is pronounced "By".
14. When Emily sees a picture of herself, she proudly says, "You!" If you ask her who she is, she is you.
15. If you tell her not to touch something, the next time she sees it she'll say, "No no touch."
16. One of her first sentences: "Oh gosh! Wow! BOOKS!" when we went to a bookstore.
17. When I fix dinner, she wants to watch/help, so she'll say, "I sit," and then she'll pull up a chair next to where I'm working. This morning while making her eggs, she was standing on her chair watching me cook and she stole a cookie that was sitting on a cooling rack from last night. Mmm, eggs and cookies for breakfast!
18. If she can't find something, she'll wander the house saying, "Weh yah youuuu?" or "Wheddigo?"
19. When she finds what she's looking for, she says, "Theh-ee yeh!"
20. She loves to fake laugh. If you're laughing at something funny, she'll join in, even though she has no idea what you're laughing at.
Oh, I have a funny story! The other day we were laying down for a late nap. It'd been several hours since I had eaten and I was a little hungry. All was quiet, we were snuggled together, and then my tummy growled. Emily sat up and said, "What's that?" I started giggling and then she said, "Momma, poopoo!" and then she lifted the covers up to look for, I'm guessing, the poopoo. I died laughing! It took us a while to get settled back down to sleep.

You Can Write on Cats With Chalk
Look how colorful her jeans ended up!
She tried drawing on the house and on her rollercoaster, but I told her she could only draw on the ground. She wandered off and found the cat enjoying some sunshine and she started to draw on her.
You can see the blue streak just between her back hips.
I told Emily she shouldn't draw on the cat--she probably doesn't like to be drawn on. Then Emily said, "Ear!" and grabbed Chloe's ear and began drawing on it. Did the cat move? No.

Nick was very interested in the fire that was built for roasting marshmallows.
