"Nope!"

"Mine!"
Me: "Emily, give me that balloon before you bite on it and it pops and you choke on it."
Emily: (yelling over her shoulder as she runs away) "MY!"
Hmmm. Well, since everything is yours, little girl, pick up that poop that you left on the floor while you were streaking through the house with your naked little bottom flashing for the whole house (actually, just me) to see. It surely isn't "MY!" poop. Pick up your messy room, too. None of those millions of toys are "MY!" either. BUT, the tripod is "MY!", the camera with the lens worth more than the camera itself is "MY!" The leftover remnants of crackers that have been crumbled and pulverized into the carpet, not "MY!"

What's Cuter than Cute?
- She's started saying "help" when she needs help with things. She got one of my flip-flop slippers "stuck" on her arm and seemed to think she couldn't get it off by herself, so she sweetly said, "Hep. Hep." I took it off her arm and she proceeded to put it back on. "Hep." **Okay, so just a few minutes ago, she was saying, "Hep," and she walked into the office with poop on her hand. Oh, the joys of poop awareness.
- "Appoh" is how she says "apple".
- "Opphoh" is how she says "hippo".
- "APPEEE!" is how she says "happy".
- "Ebboh" is how she says "elbow".
- "Eeeeyaaa-eeeeyaaa" is the sound a donkey makes.
- When she says "sad", she makes a sad face and kind of looks down and says, "Sa."
- When you ask her something and she doesn't know what it is, she puts her hands up and kind of shrugs her shoulders with her head to the side.
- Instead of saying, "No," she says, "Nope!" Me: "Hey, Emily! Do you see that bird?" Emily: "Nope!"
- She shares her food with her toy animals and she makes an eating sound when they eat and she makes a sipping sound when they drink.
- Sometimes she says "sorry". Only it sounds like "Ah sahyee." Sometimes she says it at appropriate times, like when she drops something, and sometimes she just says it out of the blue.
- This may be TMI or even WTMI (Way Too Much Info), but I've been letting Emily flush the toilet, even when it's just when I've gone potty. The she says, "Bye-bye, poopoos!" Even when it's not poopoos that she's flushing.
- When she doesn't get her way and if she's standing, she'll scream (eh, not so cute) and get real stiff with her arms at her sides and she'll sort of flare her hands out. This may require an illustration to help you picture it:
Okay, okay, enough with the cuteness already!

Delighted

The other night as we were getting ready to go to sleep, we went through our little rituals of singing songs and giving kisses. I started a new tradition the other night of kissing my finger and then pressing my finger to her lips; kissing my finger and pressing it to her nose, then eyes, and cheeks. As she was in between awake and asleep, she kissed her finger, touched my lips, grinned a sleepy grin and then drifted off to sleep. Tears came to my eyes and I melted a thousand times. She is simply amazing.

New Blog
Tagged!
Here's how it works:
1. Pick up the nearest book (one of at least 123 pages)
2. Open the page to 123
3. Find the 5th sentence.
4. Post the next 3 sentences
5. Tag 5 people.
The closest book to me is Digital Wedding Photography - Capturing Beautiful Memories by Glen Johnson. Okay, these sentences are boring, but here goes... "What does it all mean? The first thing to notice is that both files get data in the highlights and shadows. The real difference is that when the camera produces its own JPEG file, it compresses all the tones together, producing a much more contrasty image."
So, does it make you want to read it? Alright, I tag Cheryl, Issa, Angela, Heather, Linda, Lanae, Jessica, Pea, Teri, Lori, and anyone else I may have missed.

Coloring

Of course, I had to get in the picture to make it a family photo. But look how much fun we had! She had red on her bum from sitting in my crayon rendering of a Converse shoe.

"Side!"
Her new favorite word is "side". Which means outside. She points to the back door and yells, "Side!" and signs please. If you say, "Outside?" she gives you a very afirmative "Uh-huh!"
She loves these rocks! How many toys does she have? How many toys have I tripped over? How many toys have I had to put away because she has too many toys? And here she is, playing with rocks. *sigh*

My little "Grandma Magnet"
She was trying to play catch. I told her to hold her hands out and she held out one and just waited for the ball to hit her. Her friend Elizabeth is awesome at playing catch!

Feelin' Puny
This morning she woke up chattering away, asking for peaches and bananas and her juice. She can say "peaches" and she can sign "banana", but juice...well, she signs "drink" and says, "ungh." Reminds me of someone...JASON.

Oh Crap.
So here's my question: How many links can you add to your favorites? I have a ton. Will my computer crash as I add one more link to my favorites? Will it scream out "Too many! Get a life!" And when I'm done adding PW readers' blogs to my favorites, when will I find the time to go back and visit? Crap. I need more hours in my day.
And now I'm wondering if they've checked out my blog. Oh, now I'm nervous.

Smartie Pants
I doubt this is a big deal to anyone but me, but I just thought I'd share a few things about Emily. She knows a few letters of the alphabet. I, O, U, M, S and B. She can say and sign "circle" and "star" and can identify circle, star, square, rectangle, and triangle. She can sort her shapes in her shape sorter like a pro. The other day we were on our way home from Walmart and as we were nearing our street, she signed "home". She recognized our neighborhood (probably because we go that route every day).
And she has GREAT nose-picking form. I'm so proud.

"Wee Wee Wee..."

Nana was here this week. We had a good time. She helped me get my kitchen organized. We also went through Emily's toys and made room for her new ones. We got some photos hung around the house and a curtain hung in the kitchen. My house looks and feels so much better. Thank you so much, Mom! I don't know how to thank you.
I said goodbye to Mom today. I was sad, but I knew she needed/wanted to go home. I thought about holding her hostage, but that's just not cool. Dad was so nice to drive all the way down to pick her up. I appreciate him doing that. It was a nice day for a drive, though! Pretty day. I went and laid down for a nap after they left and when I closed my eyes, I could still see the glare of their WHITE car. I got a tiny tear. *sniff*

You've Got a Little Something on Your Face...
Oh, there are times she savors it. But mostly she scarfs it up when given the chance!
