Dirt = Fun!

I took her outside to get some cute photos of her in her pretty dress, and what did she do? She played in the dirt. I swear, I don't know where she gets these tendencies. (She has bruises on her legs, too. Reminds me of me...)
She has a new favorite word: "bodiggabodiggabodigga" I'm not sure what it means, but it's fun to say. Go ahead, say it out loud. You know you want to. It sounds like this: Bo-Dig-Uh. Bodigga. Now say it fast. Now say it lots of times fast. See, FUN, right? That's the word she was saying in that second photo.

Oh, and I'm beginning to feel better. I'm still a little hoarse, and I have a stupid cough, but I feel so much better than I did last week.

(I used Flickr to post to my blog. I'm not sure I like it. I'll play around with it some. I'd like the photo to be bigger, for your viewing pleasure...)

Sorry...

...I haven't blogged. I'm sick. I've got a head cold. My throat hurts and my ears are clogged and I'm dizzified. I'm not really feeling like blogging. But, you can look at this if you'd like:
Dang, she's cute.

Cloth Diapers

Emily has a diaper rash, and the other night it had gotten pretty bad. I thought that maybe she needed bigger diapers so she could have more "breathing room" down south. I sent Rob to the store to get diapers in the next size up, and while we waited for him to come home, I put a cloth diaper on Em. I've never put a cloth diaper on a baby before. I had no clue what to do. This is how it ended up looking:

Talk about junk in the trunk!

Near Spider Attack!

Whew! Almost got eaten alive by this spider! I coulda died, or peed my pants. More likely I would have peed my pants, but still...
He was probably the size of the diamond on my wedding ring. So it was freakin' huge!!! Well, not really. He was tiny. I didn't notice the long hairs on his legs until I looked at the photo in Photoshop. Yick. And uck. I have goosebumps. Gotta go.

Fluke (n)

1. an accidental advantage; stroke of good luck.
2. an accident or chance happening.
3. an accidentally successful stroke, as in billiards.

It was a fluke that Emily slept through the night, night before last. Dang it.

Little Miss Sunshine

After a good night's sleep, Emily woke up all grins this morning.

Don't Move a Muscle

Don't say a word. Leave the TV off for just a bit longer.

These are things I'm telling myself this morning. Because Emily is still asleep! It's nearly 8:30. She slept the whole night. The.whole.night! I'm so excited because it means I slept, too! Not the whole night because she did make a noise and I went and checked on her and she was fine but then I couldn't go back to sleep but eventually I did. Anyway, she's still breathing, I checked. Last night was the first night ever that she went to bed without nursing! I have mixed feelings about this because it's such a special bonding time we have, but then I think about what a big girl she is and she doesn't need my milk anymore. Oh, I just got sad again. But, now I'm happy again because SHE SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!

Mini Me

I know she looks like me, but sometimes it's freaky to see how much we look alike.

Sunshine!

The sun came out from behind the clouds today, after many days of clouds and rain. Emily received energy from the sunlight and played like she'd just found her long lost best friend.

And she signs "Blue's Clues" and "drink" and "eat". She's learning "cookie" and "help". She's really beginning to pick things up quickly!

Check my other blog for a "Demotivate This" contest tomorrow!

A List

1. Emily likes to pretend to eat. She takes her spoon and moves it around in her empty bowl and then "eats" from the spoon.

2. She gets embarrassed when we watch her push her shopping cart. She'll see if we're looking when she pushes it, grins real big, then runs to us for a quick hug and then goes back to pushing the cart.

3. She has added "cracker" to her vocabulary and "ball", "book", "hat", and "please" to her regular sign language vocabulary.

4. She tells me when it's time to change her diaper. Sometimes.

5. Emily dances with the contestants on "So You Think You Can Dance". She could be a contender.

6. We're down to nursing twice a day. Sometimes. But mostly. We've pretty much cut out the naptime session.

7. She is learning to share. She's not very good at it, though. Emily had this one toy and Elizabeth was eyeing this particular toy and Emily was hugging it and holding it with her feet and watching Elizabeth very carefully (through her bangs).

8. Emily calls everyone "daddy". Including Randy. And the cat. And me. I'll ask her to say "momma" and she says "Daddy!" Toad.

9. She'll get into the wagon and say bye-bye. She also says bye-bye to cars that drive by our house. And the cars in parking lots.

10. She's just really cute.

"Payda" and Poo

Emily helped me make pizza tonight. I showed her how to take the crust out of the package and how to open the can of tomato sauce and spread it on the crust. Then we put slices of cheese and tomatoes and ham on it. I said, "Pizza, pizza!" when we were done and she said, "Payda, payda!" Close enough to earn her kisses.

And, the inevitable happened during Emily's bath this evening. I'm sure you know where I'm going with this. The poo face has been replaced with a very cute grin, so imagine my surprise when there were little pebbles floating around my grinning child. She thought it was pretty amusing. I thought it was gross. She giggled as I scooped the poop with a cup and flushed it down the toilet. It was kind of a game; see how long it takes to catch the pebbles without them breaking up and without them touching my hand. Ick.

Fait Fruit

I came across some photos I took at Kate and Margie's old place of some fresh fruit. I would love to have some fruit trees in our yard.

Swimming!

Yesterday evening Aaron, Tammie, Nana and the boys came to swim at our community pool. We had a good time! The boys seemed to enjoy themselves. There are two pools in our neighborhood, but one was closed due to fecal contamination, so the pool we were at last night was busy. Hopefully next time they come over the other pool will be open and it won't be so crowded.

I debated on the title to this post. It was almost "Don't Eat the Baby Ruth!" but I went with a tamer title.

Swimming Like a Pro!

We took Emily to the pool yesterday evening and she absolutely loved it! They have this part of the pool that is about a foot-and-a-half deep and then it drops off to the rest of the pool. She splashed a bit on the platform and then headed for the edge. Rob was there to catch her, so she was fine, but I was amazed at how little fear she has in the water. She was even kicking her feet like she's done this before. Perhaps we'll put her in swimming lessons soon. I think she's going to be the next Amanda Beard (Gold Medal Olympic Swimmer). Or a bull rider.

Sunflowers in June

There is a sunflower field down the street from us. We pass it every time we go to Walmart (which is almost every day).

Notice the bug on this sunflower. He was just chillin' until I came along and stuck my camera in his face. Sorry, Mr. Bug. You're cute. And you're lucky. You live in a sunflower field. Except, your neighbors suck.

Sunflowers remind me of Jean Watson. Jean Watson was my Girl Scout leader in Cedarville. She had some sunflowers at her house. I used to sneak seeds when she wasn't looking. I think it was alright that I ate some, but I was afraid of her. Well, not really afraid, just eager to be the best Girl Scout she ever knew.

Pictures from Today

Here are some pictures of Kelly's cuties.

Here's Caiden. You'd never know he had just been crying. What a faker.
And here is Corgan. He was playing with brown Play-Doh, making it into a balloon shape.
I can't not show photos of Ms. Em. The "shirt" she's wearing is actually a dress, size 3-6 months. I'm just making sure I use her clothes as much as possible before they go in a box for whoever has the next girl.
Aww, she has pretty little curls.
