Family Pictures!

Here is our first official family picture (notice the shoes. Fancy, huh?). This will not be the photo that we include with our Christmas cards. Neither will we include the other picture that Rob didn't smile in. And it won't include the picture where we are all washed out by a white background. All in all I'm pleased with the pictures, but I wish we were given more choices of the family pictures.

And here's my cutie patootie. I love all her chins. Her little feet were oozing out of her shoes. She has short, fat feet. I promise, I tried to get her to wear a hair bow, but she refused! Ah, she is my little girl.

Eight Months Old

I love this last photo. It was taken the other day. If you enlarge it, you can see exactly how she feels about wearing the Christmas dress.
Update: Since we can't enlarge the photo by clicking on it, I made it bigger here for your viewing pleasure:

Life is a Bowl Full of Fruit Poofs

"See this poof here? I want that one."
Concentrate...concentrate...
CHOMP!
"Mmmm. Good poof. I recommend the apple cinnamon. They're tasty."

How about now????

This will be my third try...

Okay, here is Emily in her Christmas dress and hat. Aunt Kelly got it for her last year for Christmas. She's not very happy about being in it.
Emily loves the walking toy thingy that she borrowed from Corgan. She just cruises around the livingroom. She doesn't know how to turn yet. I guess it's not like riding a bike, you know, where you lean in the direction you want to go. She leans and leans, but still goes straight.
Emily has learned to form her boogers into letters. Here she has formed the letter 'A'. She's so smart.
She woke up from her nap and ended up with bed head. And the letter 'A' on her chin. She's saving that piece for later...
She's like a little bird when it comes to feeding time. She is a very good eater!
Emily's friend Elizabeth comes over to play. They are learning to share. Or I should say EMILY is learning to share. She's not very good at it and she'll tackle you if you take what's hers. She'll tackle you even if it's yours and she wants it. It's a work in progress.
Poor Elizabeth... Emily wants whatever Elizabeth has. Like I said, she'll tackle ya.
But Elizabeth still loves Emily and shows great patience. It's almost like she's saying, "Hang on a sec, girlie."

Hmmmm...

I can't seem to post pictures. I've got several. So I guess I'll just describe them and you can use your Imagination to view them.

Okay, there's this one where Emily is being totally cute and she's got drool on her chin. Then there's this other one where she's being adorable. That one probably shows drool on her chin, too. There are a couple of pictures where Emily is playing with Elizabeth and they're fighting over the same toy.

So there you go, pictures of Emily. I hope that you imagined them as cute as the actual photos.

Live to Blog, Blog to Live

I'm sitting here in the office with Emily this morning. Jason is asleep in the livingroom, so I've brought Emily's toys in here with us and we're hanging out. She started to get hungry and fruit poofs weren't doing the trick, so I made some cereal with apricots (not her favorite apparently) and put a bib on her and proceeded to feed her.

Folks, they invented highchairs for a reason. Feeding a baby while she's standing at her favorite toy table is not the way to go. This toy table makes music and music makes Emily dance. Dancing and eating cereal don't mix. Well, they do mix, right on her face.

So I'm thinking to myself, "Hmm, blog moment." Then she decides she done eating and starts chewing on the arm of Rob's office chair. There was still cereal residue in her mouth and on her face, hence there is cereal residue on Rob's chair. More blog stuff, yay! As I'm thinking how I'm going to blog this moment, I try feeding her more cereal. Hey, her mouth was open, I thought I'd feed it. *sigh*

There is cereal on her chin because she decided to dance. I don't know why. There wasn't any music playing. Must have been music in her head 'cause I didn't hear it. As I'm giggling, scraping cereal off her chin, thinking this is going to be great blog material, Emily hits my hand and cereal ends up on my pajama bottoms. Great. I just washed these. My hand gets in the cereal. I lick it off, and yeah, cereal and apricots aren't my favorite either. So I wipe it on my shirt.

Today Emily decided that spitting is fun. It sounds cool and it makes for easy distribution of cereal on everything in the office. Yep, I live to blog. I have to close this post now because the cereal on my arm is starting to dry up and crack and it's making me itch.

Dancing for Dollars

Emily has started dancing at a topless joint. We needed help with some of the bills. We've had some unexpected purchases come up these past couple of months (new tires, new glasses, a locksmith) and Emily has agreed to dance for dollars. It gives new meaning to having a loaded diaper...

"All I Need is My Mommy and My Teddy Bear"

Jason had shoulder surgery yesterday and is convalescing at our house. He is doing well, as long as he's got his ice pack and teddy bear. Mom is here, too, helping take care of him.

Handsome Boys

Aaron and Tammie's boys are so handsome! They all have beautiful brown eyes that melt my heart.

Nick loves loves loves Legos. He is really good at building stuff.
Carter is very enthusiastic about mowing the lawn!

And Eric is 4 months old and such a cutie!

I feel pretty, oh so pretty.

Corgan, this is officially my favorite photo of you. I love the expression on your face. You are so cute...and pretty. I stole this picture from your mother's blog.

Kelly, I tried to leave a comment on your blog, but it wouldn't let me.

Updating My Blog

I contacted the people at Blogger and apparently I need to update my blog template to fix the comment problem. I'm really nervous about doing this because I'm afraid I'll lose all my posts, pictures, and comments. I copied and pasted everything to a Word document, so at least I have that. Sooo, here goes nothing... AAAHHHHH!!!!

I'm Thankful For...

I'm stealing Kelly's idea and posting what I'm thankful for. Hope you don't mind, Kelly.

I'm thankful for...

-Emily. Even when she poops. Maybe especially when she poops because she gets this funny look on her face. I call it her poo face. Really cute.
-My husband, Rob. He's my best friend.
-Our home.
-Our cat, Chloe.
-Family.
-Friends.
-Blogging.
-Blog surfing.
-Antidepressants.
-My sense of humor.
-Kelly's ideas.
-DVR!!! I would DIE if I couldn't watch all my shows.

I'm still working on the comment issue.

Comments?

I guess you can't post comments on my blog. I'm not sure why. I am, however, comforted by the fact that all my fans have been unable to post lately because of some technical something on my blog site, rather than it being lack of interest. I was thinking no one was visiting my blog and that I was talking to no one. After talking to Mom, I found out that a couple of people have tried to comment on my blog but it didn't work. So, this is something I'm looking into.

Since no one can comment, I feel I have the freedom to post whatever I want and nobody can say anything about it.

*I'm not wearing shoes today. I'm trying to think of the last time I wore shoes and I can't remember.
*I should be packing for our trip to Austin for Thanksgiving at River and Renee's house, but I'm blogging. Blogging and blog surfing. You should try it, it's super duper.
*I have taken about 2500 photos since getting a camera for my birthday. Wanna guess who's the main subject?
*Emily loves playing with dolls. I don't know what to do about this...
*I'd much rather fold baby clothes than mine and Rob's clothes. (Her clothes are folded and put away, ours are in a pile on the floor)
*I'd much rather dress Emily than myself. Some days she is dressed to the socks ('cause we don't wear shoes at our house) and I'm still in my PJs. Today would be one of those days.
*I haven't started my Christmas shopping.

Thank you.

Rob Plays With Dolls!

Emily loves it when Rob plays with her. It's so funny to see him playing with Emily with one of her dolls. But, she loves it and she laughs, which makes Rob play even more! So cute.

Emily bumped her upper lip on a table leg this morning. She got a fat lip. Poor baby! I cuddled with her for a minute and then she was ready to play some more!

I Love Being a Mom!

Emily went to bed at 11:00 last night. She didn't go down quietly, either. She's been feeling a little under the weather this past week and at the same time, getting used to sleeping in her own bed. That's a lot for a little body to deal with at once. She'll usually start out in the crib but end up on the futon with me. I tend to get more sleep that way.

Anyway, she slept until almost 5:00. I layed down with her on the futon and nursed her and she went back to sleep, and so did I. She slept until 7:30 and I nursed her again and she woke up at 9:45! I probably checked on her so many times to make sure she was breathing, because she'll usually be up and ready to play at 5:00.

Finally, after I checked in on her on about the fiftieth time, I heard this little "coo" coming from her room. I cannot tell you how excited I was that she was awake! I skipped to her room and found her sitting up all puffy-eyed and grinning. I felt such joy and love at that moment. Gone was the frustration of dealing with a fussy, clingy baby all week and the sleepless nights. All I could think about is I love being a mom.

Here she is being a fussy butt.

She woke with a grin and a two-pound diaper on.

Near Celebrity Sighting!

Rob and I met for lunch last week at the town square in Southlake. Rob worked that morning, so Emily and I drove to Southlake and met him there. As Emily and I were waiting on the sidewalk in front of our previously agreed upon meeting spot, this man drove up in a minivan and stopped at the curb in front of us and asked for directions to Rock Fish (which we happened to be standing right in front of). Anyway, he looked so much like Sean Hayes, the actor who played Jack on "Will & Grace." I thought to myself, "Wow, he looks just like Jack!" But then reality hit and I realized that Sean Hayes wouldn't be in Southlake, Texas, driving a minivan. BUT, it was a near celebrity sighting!

Dooo doo!

I remember a couple of years ago when Rob and I were talking about having kids and what names we'd like to name them. We took into consideration our last name and how the name would go with it. We talked about nicknames, and could their names be shortened to something that rhymed with a bad word. "Emily" seemed like a safe name. It is a safe name. We shorten it sometimes to "Em" which sounds like a letter of the alphabet; no big deal.

Who knew we'd call her things other than her name? Well, I guess it's to be expected. Dad called Jason "Guy Smiley" a lot. Poppy called Kelly "Little Iodine." (I still don't get that one) Emily gets called several names other than her own, such as: Little Bit, Little Girl, Baby Girl, Boo Boo, and Doo Doo. Yeah, Doo Doo.

It all started with me calling her Boo Boo, in sort of a Yogi Bear voice. Then instead of the Yogi Bear voice, I'd say "Boo Boo" and it sounded more like "Yoohoo!" Eventually Doo Doo happened and she's beginning to answer to it. So I imagine her first "real" word is going to be "Doo Doo." I can just see us sitting in church when she says it, at the top of her lungs, from the back row, during a lull in testimony meeting.

Fun With Picassa

Emily is really cranky today. She may be teething. She may be working on another cold. I don't know. She's snotty and drooly and she cries a lot. In fact, she's in her highchair right now being a...how should I put it...butt nugget (thank you, Kelly). So, I thought I'd take a break from her cranky butt and look at some CUTE photos of her and play with the coloring. It's fun. Making a color photo black and white adds emotion.

But first, let's check on Emily to see how she's doing...

Anyway...

Freeeeze Turkey!

Emily was caught with a loaded weapon. She was cruising by me and something just didn't smell right, so I had her assume the position to be patted down. Yep, it's true; her diaper was full of poo...and veggie poofs. Apparently some "fell" in her diaper when she was snacking. Emily, "all you can eat" does not mean "all you can take!" She is now behind bars doing about 20-30...minutes (naptime).

Lucky #7!

Emily turned 7 months old yesterday! She is getting to be so much fun! She crawls around and pulls herself up to a stand and is even starting to take steps along the furniture. She is good at entertaining herself, which helps me a lot! She has started the transition to sleeping in her crib. She still wakes up at night and I end up bringing her to bed with me.

Oh, and yes, she has a bruise on her cheek from falling against the ottoman and three bruises on her forehead from various falls and run-ins. Poor baby!

Lunch with Kelly & Corgan

Emily and I met Kelly and Corgan in Hurst at Panera Bread. We had a good time. Emily loves Corgan. She was very fascinated with whatever he had to say. Maybe she understood him! He's such a cutie! I love all the signs he knows and I can't wait for Emily to learn so they can talk to each other. Corgan kept talking about a balloon and how it went up in the air. It was cute.

Veggie Poofs and Bloody Noses

Emily fed herself veggie poofs! I've been giving them to her for a couple of days and she loves to "chew" on them. She'd been trying to grab them but couldn't seem to pinch them in between her thumb and forefinger. Once she got that down, she couldn't seem to get them in her mouth. They'd usually end up on her chin. So today, she did it! She fed herself veggie poofs!

We were playing on the floor earlier and she was "honking" my nose and she stuck her finger up my nose and scratched it up there with a razor-like fingernail, which I just cut a couple days ago. After laying there looking at each other for a couple of seconds with an "uh oh" look, the blood started to flow. It didn't bleed for very long, but we got a good laugh at me sticking TP up my nose. I'm guessing she thought it was funny since just a couple of days ago I was wiping her nose with TP and she HATED it. She must have been thinking, "Okay Black Bart. Now you get yours!"
Sorry, no photos of the bloody nose.

No Treats for Emily

We didn't go out Trick-or-Treating last night. It was too cold and Emily is just getting over a cold. So, we watched Charlie Brown and handed out candy. It was fun!
